"I've visited ancient sites all over the world — Angkor Wat, Machu Picchu, Petra — but Hampi has a raw, untouched quality that sets it apart. The Musical Pillars at Vittala Temple are genuinely mind-blowing. The boulder landscape feels like another planet. This tour was perfectly organised from start to finish."

FREQUENTLY ASKED

FAQ — Lost Hampi Tour

What is the best time to visit Hampi?
The best time to visit Hampi is from October to February when the weather is pleasant with temperatures ranging from 20°C to 32°C. The famous Hampi Utsav (Vijaya Utsav) festival is held in November, featuring cultural performances, puppet shows & fireworks amidst the ruins. Avoid visiting during the peak summer months (March–May) when temperatures can exceed 40°C.
How do I reach Hampi from the UK?
The nearest international airport is Bangalore (Kempegowda International Airport), which is well-connected to London and other UK cities. From Bangalore, you can take an overnight train to Hospet Junction (approx. 7 hours) or drive (approx. 6 hours). The nearest domestic airport is Hubli Airport (approx. 2.5 hours from Hampi). We arrange all transfers as part of the tour package.
Is Hampi suitable for families with children?
Yes! Hampi is a wonderful destination for families. Children love the boulder landscape, the coracle rides, and climbing the hills. However, some areas involve walking on uneven terrain, so comfortable shoes are essential. We can customise the itinerary to include shorter walks and more vehicle transfers for families with young children.
How much walking is involved in the tour?
Hampi's ruins are spread across a large area, so moderate walking is involved — typically 5-8 km per day on uneven terrain. The Matanga Hill sunrise trek involves a 30-minute climb with some steep sections. We provide vehicle transfers between major sites to minimise fatigue. Comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, and a hat are essential.
Can I explore Hampi by bicycle?
Absolutely! Cycling is one of the best ways to explore Hampi. Bicycles can be rented locally for around ₹200 per day. The terrain is mostly flat with some gentle slopes. We can arrange bicycle rentals as part of your tour. For a more adventurous experience, moped rentals are also available (valid driving licence required).
Is Hampi safe for solo female travellers?
Hampi is generally considered very safe for solo travellers, including women. The local community is welcoming and tourism-friendly. However, we recommend staying in well-known accommodation areas (Hospet or Hampi Bazaar side), avoiding isolated ruins after dark, and keeping our 24/7 support number handy. Our guided tours ensure you're always accompanied at major sites.
What is the cancellation policy?
We offer flexible cancellation: Full refund if cancelled 30+ days before departure. 50% refund if cancelled 15-29 days before. No refund for cancellations within 14 days of departure. We recommend purchasing travel insurance for added protection.
Can the itinerary be extended to include other destinations?
Yes! Popular extensions include Badami, Aihole & Pattadakal (ancient Chalukyan temples — 2 extra days), Goa (beaches & Portuguese heritage — 3 extra days), or Mysore & Coorg (palaces & coffee plantations — 3 extra days). Just mention your preferences in the enquiry form and we'll create a customised itinerary.
